Coming this summer to Charleston, Illinois, home of the Eastern Illinois University Panthers, and the Charleston Trojans: A Taste Of Natural Childbirth! This will be a special, two part series, serving as a crash course for those families interested in a low-intervention birth. The focus will be on achieving a vaginal birth without drugs such as an epidural or IV pain medicine, as we will learn how to utilize many different tools to relax, stay calm and work WITH your body during labor. We also discuss ways to stay healthy and minimize your risks, as well as covering what your options are if your pregnancy and birth take an unexpected turn. Knowledge is power, and you deserve to experience your birth with confidence! Of course, the goal is a healthy mom AND a healthy baby in the end.
This class has been very successful in the past, so far ALL of my Charleston students have taken the tools they've learned with me and have gotten the type of births they've desired! Whether you're "high risk", VBAC, first time mom or on your fourth pregnancy, I think you and your partner will enjoy my class and gain a lot from it!
If you or someone you know is interested in learning more, please Contact Me or you may go ahead and register here to reserve your seats. Space is limited, so do not wait!

"Who is the best OB/midwife in Denton?"
Well, when I read the comment section in those Facebook groups, sometimes I cringe. I know nothing about you, so recommending the best care provider for you is impossible.
You see, I don't want to recommend MY favorite care provider to work with. (Ok, maybe I do, sometimes!) But what I REALLY want is to find out about you and your baby. How do you envision your labor and birthing day to look? Does that include a serene waterbirth, undisturbed by monitors? Do you picture napping while your epidural takes most of your discomfort away? Perhaps you don't want to think about any of it, and prefer your care provider lead the way? Or do you want to be informed of your choices and allowed time to make your own decisions?
All of these are important factors when deciding which OB or midwife is the best fit for YOU. It's your birth, after all. The best doctor in Denton for you is the one who supports your desires, whatever that is in your mind. A woman who wants to walk around during labor, and push her baby out on all fours probably wouldn't be happy if I recommended an OB who prefers his patients to labor exclusively in bed and deliver in stirrups. Likewise, if you know that, hey, I want an epidural as soon as possible and to let my provider choose what's best, you may not enjoy a provider who specializes in home births.
I do want you to know that you have options. If your heart isn't at peace with your current care provider, it is never ever too late to switch. The way you give birth this time has a giant impact on the way you give birth with subsequent pregnancies, so it is important to choose wisely. We are really lucky here in the Denton and Dallas areas to have lots of wonderful choices in care providers. Denton has a few of the most experienced midwives I've ever met, and several of the most patient OBs I've ever worked with. I encourage you to schedule a consultation with more than one OB or midwife. They won't get their feelings hurt if you choose someone else, promise. Your birth, your way.
